The Family Development Program assures that the highest quality child development knowledge is accessible to all families and early childhood professionals. We collaborate with state and local initiatives to strategically meet shared goals for high quality early learning.
The majority of Andy’s experience is in the public and non-profit sector. He spent five years with the AmeriCorps Volunteer In Service To America (VISTA) program. For three years he served as a VISTA volunteer with the New Mexico Hispanic Medical Association. During that time, he learned a great deal of administrative skills as well as community engagement and resource development skills.
After his VISTA service ended, he spent two years as a Program Manager for AmeriCorps VISTA. This opportunity allowed him to find organizations in New Mexico who were fighting poverty in their unique way and provide them with VISTA support in order to fulfill their organizational missions
After working for the AmeriCorps, Andy managed a teen pregnancy prevention program for the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). With NM continuously having high teen pregnancy rates, Andy was proud to be part of a team that was educating teens on how to be safe and smart in their relationships.
